Painted Boat Resort & Spa, Sunshine Coast, British Columbia
The lovely natural setting of Pender Harbour on the Sunshine Coast relaxes and rejuvenates guests during their stay at Painted Boat Resort & Spa. The ocean, the salty air, the effervescent birdsong, and the verdant splendour of the coastline all soothe and calm the city-stressed traveller. The spa's luxurious treatments take you beyond these healing powers of nature. Seaweed facials, botanical body wraps, invigorating massages help the weary traveller detoxify and re-connect. Nearby, the resort's innovative restaurant offers creative west coast cuisine for lunch, dinner, or celebratory occasions to locals and resort guests. Other nearby amenities include the Pender Harbour Golf Course, Slo Cat Harbour Tours and the picturesque towns of Sechelt and Gibsons. An ideal day for us: a round of golf in the morning, a mouth watering halibut burger at Triple B's Burgers in the Pender Harbour village, an afternoon harbour tour with Captain Paul, a relaxing massage at the spa, and a gorgeous gourmet meal created by Chef Spence at the Painted Boat Restaurant. Enjoy the very best kind of west coast experience in Pender Harbour on the Sunshine Coast.

Sherman's Deli, Palm Desert
Sherman's Deli is a culinary treasure that serves authentic New York style Jewish food in the middle of the Desert. Nothing fancy or pretentious, Sherman's is where the locals patiently line up for clean kosher comfort food at any time of the day. Built in the early 1960s during the halcyon days of the Californian Desert, the deli has two locations - one in Palm Springs and one in Palm Desert - which are run by a brother and sister team who have continued in the respected tradition of their late father. The walls of the restaurants are hung with photographs of famous celebrities who have savoured the 'double helping' sized servings over the years. Traditional favourites include the Homemade Potato Pancakes, the Grilled Reuben, the Corned Beef and Cabbage and the Strawberry Shortcake. By avoiding the dinner rush, early diners are rewarded with fewer line-ups and lower prices on dinner orders.

JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa, Palm Desert
Enjoy endless family fun in the sun at this gorgeous Desert Springs Resort. There's lots to do whether it's playing a round of golf, practising your tennis techniques, swimming and sunbathing, renting a bicycle, or soothing your tired muscles in a steamroom or sauna....the JW Marriott Resort & Spa is a complete holiday in itself. You don't even have to leave the luxurious hotel grounds to eat. There are four restaurants on site to tempt you: the Mikado for sizzling steaks and fresh sushi, the Lake View for classic roast beef buffets and brunches, the Oasis Bar and Grille with its casual poolside snacks, and the lively Costas Nightclub. All of these restaurants are accessible by boat which is an added attraction to your dining experience. There's even a Starbucks with an outdoor terrace and fire pit. In my opinion, it is definitely the most self contained resort in the Desert: a dazzling oasis amid the shopping malls and golf courses. The bonus is that there are several different options for accommodation to choose from depending on how you want to spend your time. The hotel is fabulous and convenient for romantic couples and golfers, while the Villas 1 and 2 offer spacious family style accommodation with kitchen and balcony and frequent shuttle bus service back and forth to the main hotel.
